Where is Mountain Trails? We are located about 30 miles southwest of Monte Vista, Colorado  in the Alamosa Canyon.  The Alamosa River runs through the campground behind the cabins. Directions: From I-25 take the Walsenburg / Alamosa exit.  Go to Highway 160 and follow it west over La Veta Pass through Alamosa, then to Monte Vista.  In Monte Vista, at the Dairy Queen, turn left on Highway 15 South, go 15 miles until pavement ends - turn right on Forest Road #250. (also called 12 south) Go 15 miles on the dirt road until you pass Terrace Reservoir, Phillips Science Camp and the Rio Grande / Alamosa Campground and then Mountain Trails is the next camp on your left (about 2 miles further).  You will see two red train cars on the camp and a sign over the front gate.
