The mitigation crew works Monday-Thursday in the Mountains making fire fighting easier by clearing brush around homes and along road sides in the mountains or homeowners association areas. We are a mobile crew so in the winter, if we decide we want to, we can travel south away from snow for work. If you know of anyone in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc. that would want to hire us we will consider work elsewhere in winter. We also clear land for home building so we can be a bit versatile.
The pay starts out at $8 an hour and raises periodically throughout the summer when workers are dedicated to doing a great job. The crew works four 10 hour days. You would stay in tents in the mountains and your food is provided. This is the hardest work you will ever do and is not for sissys. You get grimmy and work at high altitudes. Handling trees and limbs can be hard on your skin. I am telling you no lie when I say it is tough out there. You might have to contend with biting insects, etc. There are showers available once during the 4 day week.
It helps if you are a certified sawyer but you can be trained. Some are chipper feeders. You can also be trained but don't come up and work a couple days and quit. You need to commit for the summer if you are tough and need a job. We have about 10 weeks, maybe more work. You will have a few more muscles by the end of summer, if you work hard.
